1.Purpose

We don't think an evaluation system for proper Hot Rolling Oil System (HRO) have been existed so far. We have now developed to measure the both density & mixing grade (D.DKITU) instantly, by making good use of optical advanced technology. Please refer to FIG8.
Now, ESI (Emulsion Stability Index) is well known for measuring sprayed fluid for HRO., which is one of the field predominant method. Oil used to be evaluated by the rate of rolling force reduction in proper rolling mills. In recent study there is little relationship between effective oil adhesion to roll and ESI itself. There is also little relationship between density and oil adhesion without the condition of mixing grade.

Now it is gradually going out of use that the way of selecting oil relies upon the reduction of rolling force. HRO lies in the extension of WR and BUR life, improvement of roll surface and reduction of electric power. The hybrid on line digital unit plays a vital role in HRO.
The mixing grade is different from density in measuring way, that is, it quickly separates oil from water. Quick measurement isn't necessary for density. Like the health check of human being, you should make good use of the proper evaluation of HRD.

2.Transparency Index

Table1 shows the turbid numbers by optical sensor that mean an optimum mixing grade with oil & water at each density for HRD.

Generally, oil used for HRD is difficult to mix with water and easy to separate from oil. Ideally, as soon as the emulsion sprayed from nozzles impinges upon the roll face, the particles of oil in water just stick to it and instantly just water running down into evaporation.

To perform above actions effectively, both oil and system makers have executed diverse ideas on how to stick oil onto the roll face. The stronger mixed emulsion, however, the fewer oil adhesion, and more uniform in the turbid numbers though. It would cause rough skin of the roll face. The weaker mixed, the more unbalanced density of oil adhesion, it would bring about trouble such as miss roll or strip meanders. An optimum mixing grade is definitely important for effective oil adhesion. You can recognize it by the turbid numbers of transparency index on the following table instead of ESI and also incorporate Toyo-Sun optical device into your new or existing HRO.

3.On Line Digital Hot Rolling Oil System (ODR)

There are many obstructions of proper action for HRD. For example, malfunction of 3way valve, oil leak of check valve, nozzle clogging, water invasion to tank, unbalanced density at each nozzle, improper mixing grade and oil in water at off rolling. Toyo-Sun on line digital unit, however, gives you a key to the solution of the difficult problems. For concrete example, you can add ODR unit to your existing HRO on the branch line from discharge side of mixer FIG10. At any time, you can get sample fluid in a cell through 2way valve and check the density, mixing grade and oil in water at off rolling automatically, sending the data to operators. They can compare it with the criterion values which are prepared preciously at laboratory, etc.
